Why You Should Host Your Event at a Winery

The most enjoyable approach to learning about different wines is to ask a few members of your immediate circle to a tasting. We are blessed to be living in the heart of wine country, as we have several wineries in close proximity. We suggest hosting the tasting just before lunch or dinner, so you and your guests can drink the same wines with your food. WithThe Chef’s Touch catering the meal, and the winery of your choice supplying the venue and the wine, you’re all set for hosting an event with a difference.

Below are some of the reasons why you should host a wine tasting party:

It’s a Great Idea for a Fundraiser

Wine fundraisers offer the prospect for a lovely, upscale social occasion. These fundraisers are usually run in partnership with a wine merchant. They get the opportunity to sell wine, the attendees can purchase at bargain prices, and the organizers usually receive a percentage of the sales from orders taken at the event. Some organizers include a cover charge as well.

It’s Educational

It’s a great opportunity for you and your friends to get to know more about wine. It’s best practice to invite people with similar knowledge of wines, so you won’t have one person with very little knowledge feeling out of place, or a self-proclaimed expert ruining things by getting on everyone’s nerves. Show your guests the techniques of holding the glass and swirling it so the wine “breathes,” and having them smell the wine to get a sense of the flavor. Ensure that they also master the technique of swirling the wines in their mouth, and either swallowing or spitting it out.

It’s Fun

You can host a themed event, where only wines from a particular winery are served. This is known as a “vertical” theme, where you taste different vintages of the same wine: for example Pinot Noir from 2012, 2013, and 2015. You can also try a blind tasting event, where you wrap the bottles in aluminum foil, number them, and have your guests do a taste test.
Palmina Winery offers a variety of red, white, and blush wines, and is an excellent venue for an event of this nature. Contact The Chef’s Touch today, and find out what’s possible for your first wine tasting event.
